More Details of Haley's Cupcakes

Haley's Sweet 16

For Brandon's little sis, Haley's, 16th Birthday party, her Mom and I decided to make over a hundred cupcakes. Kim baked all the cupcakes (thank god!), chocolate, funfetti, and vanilla, then she made the buttercream, courtesy of her Dudt Family's famous buttercream recipe (that I have to say is fantastic!). Then I made all the fondant decorations to top them with; lots of flowers, her name in chocolate fondant, and then some with sprinkles. They turned out so cute so I am going to post quite a few of the pictures so they do the whole thing justice!

How fun are these twilight cupcakes?! Brandon's cousin Sarah is having a twilight themed birthday party (they're gonna watch the movie that's coming out). She wanted cupcakes that matched the book covers so I made a dozen of these. They took a lot of time but were fun to do so I hope she loves them like I do! Now I'm dying to read the books. I better get a move on on that... haha.

Dr. Kelly's Celebration Cake

Brandon's cousin Kelly just graduated with her doctorate in psychology. I made this cake for her party at Monteray Bay this past Saturday. I stepped off the plane at 10:00 in the morning and had the cake done by 6! It was a miracle. It's double chocolate fudge cake with chocolate chips, chocolate buttercream frosting, and chocolate fondant. This was chocolate heaven!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

It was little Sam's all about me this past friday so I tested out a Red Velvet cake recipe in cupcake form to bring in for his class. They are topped in traditional vanilla buttercream not the cream cheese frosting because not all little kids like the cream cheese type. Anyway, they were a hit and the recipe is now a new one of my favs!

Death by Chocolate Layer Cake

3 layers of devil's food cake filled with dark chocolate ganache. Frosted in cocoa frosting and covered in pirouettes. I wasn't home for Dad's birthday so I made this for him last night as a belated treat. I'll post a pic of the inside if I get a chance. We have yet to cut it but I'm dying to try it! Yummm!

Malted Chocolate Mini's

These little triple chocolate mini cupcakes came out looking so cute and SO chocolaty! Again, they were the triple chocolate cake and thick chocolate ganache frosting (more like fudge) with a malted milk ball on top.

Triple Dipped Chocolate Mini's

Yummm, my heaven! The cake is triple chocolate (chocolate cake with cocoa and chocolate chips), and the frosting is a thick chocolate ganache dipped three times. Sprinkled on top is pink sugar for valentine's day of course!

More Mint Chocolate

Another version of the mint chocolate mini's. Did a swirl of buttercream on these with some crushed peppermints on top.

Pink Lemon Drops

Lemon cake with pink lemon fondant glaze. Very dainty and girly. Next time I do these I will add three little white flowers to each one.

Peppermint Cuppies

Mint Chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream and white jimmies.

Pink Swirls

Classic white cake with pick buttercream frosting. Chocoholic that I am, it is quite amazing that these were my absolute favorite out of all of them! Just simple and perfect.

Cupcakes for CMM's Valentine's Candle Light Party

My boss asked me to make 9 dozen mini cupcakes for the Valentine's party on Saturday. I made a whole bunch so I'll post pictures of them all then tell you about the different kinds. They turned out super cute! I absolutely love making cupcakes. They behave very nicely ;)

Spring/Valentine Cookies for KD's design firms.

Brandon's Mom, Kim, asked if I could make 9 dozen sugar cookies for her to give to her design firms for a little valentine gift. While I love sugar cookies hopefully these are the last for a little while...so many!! I have to get a picture of how she packaged them up on here. Apparently it was very cute!

More Cookies...

Cookies!

I tried out a new sugar cookie recipe this weekend and it ended making so many cookies! I tried out some royal icing recipes and techniques and in general they came out nicely and tasted very good! The icing set perfectly making them easy to pack or store or ship or whatever. Very fun.

Hot Rod ("Rat Rod") Cake

My first car cake... And first real cake order! It was for a man's 30th Birthday cake. I think it turned out well considering. It is white almond sour cream cake with vanilla buttercream and homemade marshmallow fondant.
